Patch application success / failure

Is there any way to get feedback from kustomize on the success, or more usefully, the failure of applying patches? It would be useful to know that a given patch has not matched anything without checking them manually.

strtegicmerge patch complains if th target is not found, for jsonpatch it is probably the lib's implentation behaviour
